Hyundai i30 N

Hyundai will use the upcoming 2016 Paris auto show to introduce its new i30, the hatchback of the latest Elantra range and the likely replacement for our Elantra GT.  This performance-oriented model will be the first car spawned from the recently established Hyundai N performance division. It’s already been spied in prototype form and is expected to be labeled a Hyundai i30 N when it’s unveiled in 2017.

On Thursday, Hyundai confirmed that a concept previewing the car will also be shown in Paris. The automaker also released a single teaser shot that shows the concept, which will go by the name RN30, will be a motorsport-inspired version of the i30.

It was developed in partnership with Hyundai’s World Rally Championship team and features a lower, wider stance said to enhance stability during high-speed driving and cornering. The automaker says the concept also features “specialized” technologies aimed at boosting performance.

One of these technologies is likely to be the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which Hyundai has been developing for the past couple of years and tested in the harsh conditions of the 2016 Nürburgring 24 Hours race.  We’re expecting the engine to deliver in the vicinity of 260 horsepower in the hot hatch.

The Paris auto show opens its doors to media on September 29. For more from the show, find our spot and come check it out for yourself.  Of course you can always come by to get more info right here.
