2014 Grammy Fashion and Absolute Hyundai

Can the fashion hits and misses of celebrities clad in designer couture at annual award shows be equated to body style hits and misses of car models? If so, are the same standards used to discern both?

One would expect nothing less than a star-studded red carpet at the 2014 Grammy Awards. That is exactly what the world at large got, but it was not devoid of the usual (or unusual) fashion trends.

Before you send the latest (and arguably most expensive) designer gown to perform the walk of shame, or before you label the latest car model a disaster, consider the old adage “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” What is deemed fabulous in one person’s eyes may be a faux paux in the next person’s eyes. Is taste purely subjective?

Taste, personal preference or aesthetics in fashion is mostly subjective. Being that in the trivial sense, my frame of reference, personal history and physical make-up lead me to prefer some things over others. For instance, was Taylor Swift’s gold chain mail gown your personal favorite or did you prefer Paula Patton’s black and white gown? Fortunately, you are free to decide and your taste in this instance is subjective. However, subjective taste preferences are less obvious in consumer choices.

ImageSimply viewing a famous actor, singer or performer on the red carpet and thinking “that dress is gorgeous’, or “what was she thinking when she chose to wear that?” as a mere spectator or fan, is very different than when making a buying decision based on preference.

In the latter example of “putting your money where your mouth is,” other factors come into play besides personal preference. Although it is still a factor, other criteria are considered as well. Things like value for the money, quality, reliability, and dependability and then yes, of course, the subjective factor of how well you like the looks of the car.

ImageThankfully, Absolute Hyundai has a full line of 2014 models that are sure to appease even the pickiest of patrons, making your next car buying experience easier than dodging the “walk of shame” and making it to the “A” List.
